Palm Sunday and the Strollers are Going Digital. The walk title cryptically suggesting that the route may involve a circuit of Ladder Hill. As the route departs the Uniting Church the leader teases them, “let’s find Anna”; Anna who? asks the party, Analogue came the reply.

It’s sunny with a breeze, views are clear and spring flowers enjoy the sunlight. The walk leaves Buxton Road to utilise the track behind the houses, linking The Cock to Cromford Court. At Shallcross Mill Road the gradient stiffens, the Strollers reach Shallcross and their ranks are added. Several friends wait for them at the ‘phone box.

There is a mention of Dicky’s Skull then the gradient increases as a pack horse road ascends to the lane above Throstle Nest. There are wide clear views across the reservoir, views stretch to Kinder and hang gliders are visible off Mam Tor.  It’s downhill passing the pack-man’s bothy then up onto the side of Ladder Hill. Through gorse the group walk onto open pasture and around the rear of the hill onto Elnor Lane.

Down the road flanked by wimberry bushes, one of Joe Brown’s numbers is spotted on the corner and the walkers look for the cattle creep below the road. It’s now downhill all the way, passing Elnor Lane Farm to the Saxon cross that is Shawl Cross then speedily down back to Cromford Court and a return to the Uniting Church, it’s taken three hours to do the circuit, that’s some stroll!.
